About Bo

ABOUT ME

I’m a mother of three, a registered Acupuncturist and Herbalist, a trained birth assistant and a graduate teacher of the School of Shamanic Womancraft.

Chinese Medicine is my foundation, it is an ancient medicine that has always known the body is not a problem to be fixed, but a landscape of wisdom to be lived.  Then in 2019 my first daughter, Honey, was stillborn and the journey through staying devoted to my love and to my grief changed me forever. My offerings in the clinic were born from this and what I was longing for in those deepest moments of grieving, postpartum without my baby and the journey to conceive after that loss. I longed for a space where my grief and love and were held with reverence and also a knowing of the depth of my heartbreak. I wanted someone to be able to with me, without rushing me along, without looking through the lens of healing and my hope is that is what I’ve created here.

For almost 15 years I’ve worked in women’s health, menstruation, fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, menopause and the rites of passage that shape us. My understanding of these thresholds has grown from my clinical experience, and it has grown from my own experience of birth, loss, mothering and being witness to women in my community. These experiences have deepened my commitment to holding each person and their journey as sacred, and to remember that the body is not a problem to solve, but a living intelligence we are in relationship with.

As a graduate teacher of the School of Shamanic Womancraft, I hold a deep reverence for cycles, not only hormonal cycles, but life seasons. Maiden. Mother. Maga. Crone. The inner and outer rhythms that move through us. This lens sits naturally alongside Chinese Medicine, which recognises that we are inseparable from nature and the seasons. When we live in alignment with these cycles, we are returning to our true nature.

I hold the nuance that treatment still has its place, acupuncture, herbs, food, rest, these are powerful allies, but they are not the whole story, I’m less interested in chasing symptoms and more interested in helping you listen. In stepping outside the lens of “what’s wrong?” and asking instead, “what is my body saying”  my work whether in clinic or in circle is not about fixing, it is about walking beside you as you remember who you are. I’ve come to know this as a devotion to tending to the return to ourselves.

At the centre of Chinese Medicine, is finding your gift and then giving it away. In Classical Chinese Medicine isn’t only about symptom relief, it is about alignment with Dao, living in accordance with one’s nature (xing 性), one’s mandate or destiny (ming 命), and allowing the Heart (Shen 神) to be clear enough to express that nature into the world. Health, in this view, is not simply the absence of disease, it is the unobstructed expression of who you are.

When Qi flows freely, when Blood is nourished, when the Shen is grounded in the Heart, a person can live their virtue (de 德). And de is not private, it radiates, to those close to us, our families and people we love and that nourishes the wider field and our communities.

The gift is not something you have to find outside of yourself, the gift is you and being yourself is a gift to the world, that is my hope and my work in the world.
