Fertility Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine
Whether you’re at the beginning of your journey, have been trying for a while, trying to conceive after loss, or moving through IVF or other assisted reproductive treatment, my intention is to offer care that is both grounded and spacious. A place where we can support your body in all the ways we know can be helpful, while also holding the truth that fertility and pregnancy are not a reward for doing everything perfectly.
Chinese Medicine offers us many ways to cultivate health and fertility, we can nourish Blood, strengthen the Kidneys, support digestion and regulate the menstrual cycle. There is wisdom in preparation, and there is also wisdom in allowing. The beauty of Chinese Medicine is that there are no protocols, we follow and respond to you
My Approach
In the classical texts of Chinese Medicine, conception is not understood as a single moment, it is the natural expression of a body that has been well nourished over time.
Because both egg and sperm develop over approximately three months, I generally recommend beginning treatment around three months before trying to conceive where possible. This allows time to gently strengthen the foundations of reproductive health rather than only responding once conception is already being sought.
Treatment may focus on:
- supporting regular ovulation and healthy menstrual rhythms
- improving menstrual blood quality and circulation
- nourishing the endometrial lining
- supporting sperm and egg health
- strengthening digestion and the production of Qi and Blood
- addressing patterns of stress, fatigue or depletion
- preparing alongside IVF or other assisted reproductive treatment
Understanding Fertility Through Chinese Medicine
Chinese Medicine understands fertility as the relationship between many systems working together, rather than one isolated organ or hormone.
Blood
Blood is central to fertility, it nourishes the ovaries, supports the growth of the endometrial lining, and creates the environment in which implantation may occur. During pregnancy it continues to nourish the developing baby, and after birth form the foundations of breastmilk.
When Blood is abundant and moving well, the cycle tends to have rhythm, substance and vitality. When it is depleted or stagnant, the body often tells us through the menstrual cycle, perhaps through light bleeding, clotting, pain, delayed cycles or fatigue.
Treatment focuses on building rich, well circulating Blood through acupuncture, herbal medicine, digestion, rest and nourishment.
The Kidneys
The Kidneys are considered the root of reproduction, they store Jing, often translated as Essence, which underpins growth, development, fertility, pregnancy and ageing. Jing is inherited from our parents, but it is also influenced by how we live. Years of stress, illness, overwork, poor sleep or simply the pace of modern life can leave us feeling depleted.
Treatment aims to support this deeper reserve, whether that means warming where there is cold, nourishing where there is deficiency, or rebuilding strength over time.
The Spleen
The Spleen is responsible for transforming food into Qi and Blood and Blood begins with nourishment. When digestion is functioning well, the body has the resources, and Blood to nourish the uterine lining, to nourish the maturing egg and sperm and to nourish the placenta and the produce nourishing breastmilk.
Part of fertility care is returning to the foundations; eating nourishing food, finding sustainable rhythms of rest, and supporting the body’s remarkable ability to transform nourishment into vitality.
The Heart
The Heart governs Blood and houses the Shen, our spirit and consciousness and is connected by its own channel to the Uterus. In clinical practice, we nourish and calm the Heart, we honour the journey and who we are becoming through it.
Conception with a Partner
Preparing for pregnancy is something I encourage couples to approach together where possible and your partner is welcome to attend your initial fertility appointment.

Trying to conceive after pregnancy loss is often a different journey, if this is part of your story, treatment gently supports both. We rebuild the physical foundations of fertility while making space for the experiences that cannot simply be left behind.
