Before Your Appointment
When you book in, you’re not just booking acupuncture, you’re booking time to connect and remember how to live in alignment with nature, within and without.
In our first session, we begin with a detailed conversation. I’ll ask about your cycles, sleep, digestion, mood, stress levels, energy, medical history and life transitions. Chinese Medicine looks at patterns across systems, so everything matters.
During Treatment
Every treatment includes acupuncture and massage, and if needed moxabustion, cupping and the use of a infra-red heat lamp. After we talk, you’ll lie comfortably on the treatment table. I use fine, sterile needles placed gently at specific points on the body. Most people find the experience deeply relaxing.
I incorporate massage into every session, working through the channels and areas of tension to help the body soften and settle. Through touch, the nervous system can shift toward a more regulated, parasympathetic state, allowing the treatment to be received more fully.
You will then rest quietly, often with gentle heat applied, while the acupuncture continues to work. Many people leave feeling calmer, clearer, or more grounded, some feel tired and some feel energised. All responses are welcome, the body integrates in its own way.
After Treatment
You may notice changes in sleep, mood, digestion or your cycle over the following days. Sometimes things shift subtly; sometimes more noticeably.
Chinese Medicine works best as a process. Depending on your condition, we may recommend weekly sessions initially, then spacing them out as your system stabilises.
The Way I Work Now
For many years, I ran a full-time, busy practice in Byron Bay, I worked long hours and held a large caseload. Returning to practice now looks different and I work only a few hours a week in clinic. This is intentional, I am in a different season of life, mothering, raising my children, tending my home and community. I honour that season and I honour the work by not overextending myself within it.
When I am in clinic, I am fully present and this pace allows me to work in alignment with my true self and my family, and to meet each person without depletion. It is a commitment to integrity, not to productivity and my clinic is no longer not high-volume. It is relational, and when you book with me, you are entering into that intentionality.
